What's going on in Ghana?
We’ve now been operating in Ghana for a few months... we’ve employed William and Emefa and started some serious networking which has already produced some very encouraging results.
Developing new business in West Africa is completely different from here in the UK. Getting appointments with heads of marketing is not that difficult.
As a small agency it's hard to imagine walking into Shell UK’s head office to discuss business opportunities with their marketing director as with major banks. However, that’s exactly what we did last week in Ghana. Better still we can actually see ourselves working for these brands.
There seems to be an open arms culture which doesn’t exist here. We like Ghana!
Having said that Ghana like most African countries, is culturally completely different to the UK. It’s not the sort of place you can walk into and expect to understand and operate in immediately. It takes time.
If it’s tough in the UK then look further afield, there are always opportunities out there... you just need to find them.
