We were asked to develop a visual identity for Cardiff University’s International Office. They are responsible for all overseas activities and for promoting the University to a global audience, a key revenue stream for the university.
Our challenge was to create an identity for the international office to allow it to differentiate itself from its parent brand, whilst at the same time strongly link to Cardiff University.
The inspiration for the design route we took came from the Cardiff University logo. It’s made up of two red rectangles which we used as graphical devices to define the international visual identity. This approach hadn’t been used before and therefore looked fresh and new.
We also carefully considered all basic brand elements including fonts, typography and imagery which we specially commissioned. The combination of these strong elements including the graphic devises taken from the logo made the international office visual identity unique whilst still being unmistakably Cardiff University.
